Monday at the horse show…

horse show

On Monday, the small squeaky kid competed in a day-long horse show. She competed in a walk trot event and cross-country, coming in second in both and placing second overall in her class. It was a great day for a hard working little girl and her pony Clifford (show name: Devil in Disguise).

The small kid wrote this about her competition day:

Clifford refused a jump and I fell off.
It was hot and I got sunburned.
I have been practicing since late February.
Grooming him took a long time.
A friend came over to help prepare for the show.

  1. June says:

Congrats to Small Squeaky Kid and Clifford. Love the action shots.

  2. Deb Weyrich-Cody says:

Big congratulations to this hard working team, with best wishes for continuing success in the future: ) And kudos on the great photos, too! (Mom?; )

  3. Catherine says:

Certainly sounds like this “small kid” and Clifford remained determined! Great day for them! šŸ™‚

    • She’s been told that you need too fall off a horse 1000 times to really be a rider – and is working her way towards that goal. She’s pretty fearless.

      • Catherine says:

I had a feeling she was “fearless” from your post! Good for her! I also smiled as I read. I lived on a small farm and as a kid, I remember our horse bucking me off…a couple times…and that was it! I admired from a far and left that challenge for my sister! šŸ™‚

  4. What a great result for all that hard work you must both be so proud. I love that name Devil in Disguise – there is a little bit of devilment in Cliffords eyes! I only ever jumped over a pole laid on the ground and nearly fell off – needless to say after that I stuck to hacking – I was never made to be a jumper so she has my admiration especially if she continued after falling off. Well done.

    • He is a little devilish – she does well to keep him in line most of the time. He likes to jump, but I wasn’t close enough to get any photos of him making a real effort at the jumps, unfortunately.

  5. I have a niece who does dressage (?spelling) Is what your daughter does the same? People may think it’s easy but it is definitely not .. Congratulations to her…. Diane

  6. You’ll have to come up with a new name for Small Squeaky Kid; it looks like she’s really growing up. Great results and great photos!

  7. she looks so regal in her formal riding clothes–congrats on getting second–with hard work (and sunburn etc) comes rewards

  8. df says:

She looks really comfortable on her pony; what a great day for her after all that hard work.

  9. What fun the Squeaky kid must have had and what a beautiful horse. Is this her first time competing? How are u?? Back to work yet?? I’m due for another Tysabri treatment next week. Also was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea. My sister was diagnosed a few months ago. Couldnt let her and my 2 brothers hog all the apnea glory so i completed the 4 pack. Think it is helping my fatigue.

  10. Well done to the squeaky kid on placing second, Clifford looks like a beautiful pony! Great action shots, when I take ones of my daughter doing jumps, they end up like a blur!! šŸ™‚

  11. oh my goodness, I’m super impressed with her jumping on that horse! Amazing girl!!!

  12. Wow, jumping! I’ve ridden only a couple of times and found it quite scary. Jumping? – congratulations – and I love the photos too, whoever took them! šŸ™‚

  13. Tammy says:

  14. Hello Heidi, Hoping you had a good summer and are ready for Fall. Thinking of you!

  15. Well done. She is a beautiful rider, I watched the video on the next blog post.

So, what do you think?
