lazy, rainy day

Finally, it’s raining. We’ve had a month without rain, which has made everything pretty crispy around our place. The bonus is no lawn to mow, the downside is no flowers and a vegetable garden that was giving up. With any luck it will rain all day and bring things back to life.

It’s put us in the mood to do nothing at all. I enjoy days like this. The kids do too. Most of the time the kids are outside playing, but on rainy days we get to curl up on the couch, read, watch movies and generally laze around. We might do some baking if we have a burst of enthusiasm this afternoon. Or not. There is definitely a trip to the library in our future.

I like that our home is someplace comfortable, someplace we want to be on a rainy day in the middle of summer.

Of course, that could change if the kids start bickering and saying that they are bored, in which case I’ll hand them their bathing suits and tell them to get out.

  5. Some rain to mix things up and bring things back to life is good in my book to. This heat has been too much! Bring back the green.

  8. We had a down pour around 4 am and again around noon, but other than that we’ve still found plenty of time to hang out side. It’s pretty muggy though, wish it would cool down. Enjoy your lazy day

  9. So glad you have rain! I’d hand kids the mop and a bucket – it stops the bickering at our house (and complaining about how they have nothing to do) in a second!!

Enjoy the much needed rain Heidi with your family – love your cat too – what a great picture!

  11. Thanks – Lurch (named so because he walks with a hitch in his giddy up) has a proprietary hold on the small kid. She is his preferred place to lounge. Even the cat was lazy yesterday.
