go big or stay home

Flower bed gardening with a front-end loader? Yep. Go big or stay home.

We scored a couple of dump truck loads of wood chips from the Town and spent the weekend spreading it around the trees and flower beds. It all looks so much better already, and should help keep in some of the moisture, if this turns out to be as dry a summer as is being predicted.

As you can see, the kidlets were also working hard. To borrow a phrase from the play on Saturday night (which was very entertaining), having those two help is like having 4 good men not show up.

  1. Lucky score!! I’m sure the kids were just exhausted from helping so much! hahahaha

  2. I have found that man (husband) power also goes a long way in getting a tough job done. I like it when the Big Guns are called in and what was at first a huge, back-breaking job, turns into something easily done. No thanks to the kidlets, though. Nice setting you have there!

  3. I do love it though, that your kids seem to be reading so often. I guess it’s just the teacher in me. 🙂

  4. I have to agree, reading is such a great way to spend time — even if they should have been helping! Looks like you had a very productive weekend. 🙂

  5. If you can’t run the tractor why do the flower bed? 🙂

  6. I am committing that quote to memory!

My husband would like to get in and drive that thing – he keeps hoping but is birthday has passed, again.

  9. […] planted our vegetable garden this month, weeded and mulched our flower beds, planted some annuals in pots to make our deck and front porch look nice and have been eating […]

So, what do you think?
