lucky

We were lucky enough to have an overnight visit with the mini monkey-cousins this weekend.

They are very busy little people.

Who tired out whom?

We are lucky to live close to our families. Our children have grown up with great-grandparents (my grandparents shared a house with a granny suite with us for a few years), grandparents and all of their immediate aunts and uncles and cousins. I think it has made them happier, more confident and well socialized kids. At least they always have someone nearby to fall back on.

quiet moments

They don’t happen that often with these two. It’s worth recording. I need to be reminded occasionally that they can be still and quiet.

They were both just passing moments in a Sunday afternoon. We have managed to clean stalls, organize the books and furniture stored in the basement, unpack the sewing room, bake cookies and put a turkey in the oven. Not bad for a shortened Sunday. Now we get to sit back and enjoy the rest of the day.

a day at the museum

010014004

I thought it might be fun to take the kids to the ROM to see the exhibits (especially the dinosaur exhibit) as something to do for the Family Day long weekend. As you can see, they were underwhelmed. I tried. I forget that museums aren’t as fascinating to kids as they are to adults. They were far more interested in the gift shops than the exhibits.

The small kid did willingly leave her blankie behind, so maybe its time is coming to an end.

And we did spend a very nice night with Sara and Mike, who kindly put up with all four of us for the night. Thanks!

And now to spend the evening recuperating from a long car ride home through detoured traffic and too many games of punch-buggy.
